18 States To Be Affected By Heavy Rains Soon

The Federal Ministry of Environment warned today that about 18 states will be affected by heavy rainfall and flooding if precautions are not taken between now and July 20.

Nigeria's life expectancy, Now 47 Years - Lowest in West - Africa

Life expectancy in Nigeria is now 47 years, making it the lowest among West African countries, the Project Director, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Prof. Abdulsalam Nasidi, has said.
He said this in Gusau on Thursday at the commencement of the second Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association.

On Saturday, the 31st of March, a group of students travelling to Lagos from Enugu were robbed and gang raped, along Ijebu-Ode/Ore Expressway. But one of the girls was very lucky, as her monthly period began to flow just before it was her turn to be raped.

The 16 year old girl said she was sleeping in the bus when the attack began. All the girls were ordered out of the bus and taken into the bush, and the girl was ordered to strip at gun point. Out of fear of being shot, she obeyed and pulled her undies only to discover she was soaked in blood, which prompted her attacker to let her go.... but the other girls weren't as lucky as she was...

Cancer Risk Can Be Cut Down By Daily Dose Of Aspirin

New research has shown that the risk of cancer can be reduced by a quarter (23% for men and 25% for women), if low doses of Aspirin are taken daily, just for 3 years and also stop it (the cancer) from spreading.

Research has also shown that long-term daily Aspirin intake for 10 years or so, reduces the risk of COLO-RECTAL (bowel) CANCER. Furthermore, it has been discovered that long-term usage can cause stomach, intestine and brian bleeding.

Apirin usage also gaurds against heart attacks and strokes, but it is not advisable for people who at no special risk of heart and artery disease because of the side effects of long term usage.

Mr Universe, 1952, Clocks 100

The winner of Mr Universe in 1952, Mr Manohar Aich, clocked 100 years on Sunday, the 18th of March 2012. He celebrated his birthday surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Kolkata, an Eastern city in India.

Standing at just 4ft 11", the centenarian attributed his longevity to his healthy life-style, which includes a simple diet of milk, fruits, and vegetables along with rice, lentils and fish. He also said that he avoids stress, doesn't smoke or drink and focuses on happiness.
